Economical Driving with BlueEFFICIENCY
Starting with 20 new models, Mercedes-Benz is proving that it can combine its hallmark brand qualities of safety and comfort with high efficiency and fuel economy in all of its vehicles, from the A-Class all the way up to the S-Class.
The BlueEFFICIENCY models, which have been available since March 2008, may be very different in many respects, but they all have a technological feature in common: a package tailored to each vehicle type that sharply reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions even further — by up to 12 percent in some cases.
For example, the three C-Class models bearing the BlueEFFICIENCY name — the C 180 KOMPRESSOR, C 200 CDI, and C 350 CGI — contribute to economical driving enjoyment in several ways. In addition to weight savings of between 19 and 32 kilograms per vehicle the BlueEFFICIENCY cars also boast a finely tuned aerodynamic design (the Cd figure is 0.25), optimized tires that cut rolling resistance by 17 percent, and savings based on intelligent energy management.
