Looking Good — Both on the Road and off:
Vision GLK Makes Its Debut

Two SUV vehicle studies from Mercedes-Benz celebrated their world premieres at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The “Vision GLK FREESIDE” and “Vision GLK TOWNSIDE” combine typical SUV traits such as solidity and off-road capability with superb driving behavior on “normal” roads. In both cases, AGILITY CONTROL suspension guarantees exceptional driving dynamics and agility, coupled with exemplary comfort and pioneering active safety standards.
Whereas the GLK FREESIDE emphasizes its off-road abilities, the Vision GLK TOWNSIDE with sports suspension unleashes its strengths on the blacktop. Both concept vehicles feature a highly robust bodyshell that ensures superior driving stability and low vibrations and noise. In typical Mercedes fashion, the highest levels of passive safety are ensured in both cars as well.
The vehicles are equipped with the latest generation of BlueTEC four-cylinder diesel engines, which operate in unison with the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission and the new 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. In addition, the two concept models feature a number of technical highlights normally reserved for more exclusive vehicle categories. These include the PRE-SAFE safety concept, the ILS Intelligent Light System, and the COMAND APS infotainment system with its intuitive operating concept.
