StreetUniverCity. June 21, 2007/“Day of Caring.” Together with numerous teenagers and young adults, some 150 employees from Daimler Financial Services in Berlin spent a day helping to renovate the “Naunyn Ritze” youth center in a former school building in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. The voluntary workers ended up going through several cans of orange and white paint, which they applied to the walls and ceilings. They also freshened up stairway railings, laid down carpet, and installed new furniture and athletic equipment. In addition, donated used PCs were hooked up in the center’s computer room, while a “Backyard Team” planted a whole bunch of bushes, painted and installed several benches, laid a new basketball court, and set up a fully-equipped workshop in the tool shed. All the materials used in the renovation project were paid for by Daimler Financial Services, while the work was carried out by employees on a voluntary basis. In 2007 Daimler Financial Services also began supporting the StreetUniverCity Berlin (S.U.B.) – a special training program at the Naunyn Ritze youth center that helps young people get started on their careers. | ||||||
