Production
Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan (right and left-hand drive)
Series production of the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class in East London started in 1994. The current C-Class is already the third generation to be produced at the Eastern Cape in South Africa. Since 2000, the plant has been exporting saloons to right-hand drive markets. With the production launch of the new C-Class in 2007, the facility also began to export left-hand vehicles to the USA. As the production of the new C-Class was initiated and the standard assembly concept of the global production network was implemented, investments were being made and the facility as a whole expanded.
