Diversity
Worldwide diversity management at Daimler
As a globally operating company, we value the diversity of our employees. Above all, demographic, juristic and entrepreneurial facts constitute the basis of our conviction that diversity management provides the opportunity to derive talents from a larger pool and to win over new consumer groups as customers. It is our aim to manage this diversity and include our diverse employees and management in all business processes on all levels. As a strategic initiative set up in 2005, Global Diversity and Inclusion Management contributes to Daimler’s success and is structured as follows:
  • The Global Diversity Council consists of 10 representatives of the top management levels of all business units (including two members of the Board of Management). It meets twice a year in order to determine the strategic focus of diversity management at Daimler.
  • The Global Diversity Office under the leadership of Ursula Schwarzenbart steers and safeguards diversity management.
  • Divisional diversity officers in each business unit ensure that the measures are implemented effectively and specifically.
The concept of diversity at Daimler is comprehensive in nature and takes into account both regional and business unit-related priorities. Our aim is to be one of the most highly respected automotive companies with regard to diversity and inclusion management by 2010. In order to reach this target, we have set ambitious milestones for ourselves. We intend to make the most of the diverse qualifications, skills and points of view that are represented in our company so that we can make the best possible decisions. We also aim to expand the pool of top-quality talent within the company by taking the appropriate measures and to ensure that these employees remain in our company over the long term. Another major challenge will be to increase the proportion of women, especially at the management level and in Germany.
