Stuttgart / Wörth am Rhein, Germany, March 28, 2008
Daimler AG and CS Cargo Group have signed a framework agreement regulating the delivery of 335 Actros trucks in 2008. The agreement also gives CS Cargo Group the option to order a total of 1,500 Mercedes-Benz trucks by 2010.
With this agreement, the Netherlands-based CS Cargo Group will be purchasing only Mercedes-Benz trucks in 2008. Hubertus Troska, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, handed over the first batch of trucks in Wörth today to Tomas Faller, CEO of CS Cargo Group, and Roman Smidbersky, Board of Management member for Sales & Marketing at CS Cargo.
For Mercedes-Benz Trucks, the new contract is the largest order ever received from Central Europe. "The transport business is currently growing very rapidly in Central Europe, which is why we’re delighted that CS Cargo, a leading logistics company in Central Europe, has decided to purchase trucks from Mercedes-Benz," said Troska. "The new contract demonstrates the Central European logistics sector’s increasing importance in the competitive picture in the West," Troska added.
"With the trucks from Mercedes-Benz and this brand as a reliable partner, we intend to further reinforce our strong position in Central Europe and become one of the first companies to dynamically expand our growth from the east to the west," said Tomas Faller regarding the decision in favor of Mercedes-Benz trucks.
All the delivered trucks are equipped with FleetBoard, the fully automated Mercedes PowerShift transmission, and environmentally friendly, fuel-saving BlueTEC technology. Mercedes PowerShift combines manual transmission with an electronic control unit that includes automated gear shifting and clutch operation as well as numerous other operating functions that ensure more comfortable, more economical, and safer driving. The BlueTEC diesel technology developed by Daimler is a technical solution for making commercial vehicles compliant with the Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards while substantially improving their fuel economy. Assuming an average annual distance covered of 150,000 kilometers in long-haul operations, this means fuel savings of between 1,500 and 2,000 liters per year.
The CS Cargo Group is an international holding that offers complex transport and logistics services throughout Central and Eastern Europe. The company is one of the leading providers in Central Europe. The firm’s parent company is CS Cargo Holding N.V., which is registered in the Netherlands. It directly manages operating companies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, and Russia. The holding is considered the strongest logistics provider in the Czech Republic.
