The strategy for a sustainable mobility of the future
The key challenge connected with sustainable mobility is the reduction of fuel consumption and the emission of CO2 and other pollutants. DaimlerChrysler is aware of its responsibility in these areas. In recent years, the Group has already played a major role in helping to make environment-friendliness and sustainable mobility a reality and considerably reducing the fleet’s emissions of CO2 and other pollutants. In the future, development work will focus on achieving further reductions of fuel consumption and exhaust emissions for the Group’s vehicles. DaimlerChrysler’s key objective continues to be the further reduction of CO2 emissions and the consumption of fossil fuels. In order to reach this goal the Group is focusing on two fields of activity: the vehicles and powertrains on the one hand (core activities), and fuels on the other (support activities). Through technical innovations in the vehicle and powertrain sectors DaimlerChrysler is also pursuing another goal: to achieve a further reduction in exhaust emissions from its products.
