Flexible use of human resources
Thanks to many tools that promote flexibility, DaimlerChrysler can react to fluctuations in demand by increasing or decreasing its human resources capacities without having to adjust its core workforce. These tools include a variety of worktime models, employee delegation via “DCmove” – a internal personnel exchange scheme – and the hiring of employees with limited-term contracts. Another tool is the flexible worktime model. The number of part-time employees in he Group’s German locations has decreased because of restructuring measures. A total of 8,299 DaimlerChrysler employees worked part-time in 2006 (2005: 8,794), amounting to 5.4 percent of the total active workforce in Germany (2005: 5.2 percent).
