Workforce
The "Aging Workforce" intitiative
Daimler recognized early on the challenges posed by an aging workforce and integrated the “Aging Workforce” initiative into its human resources strategy in 2001. Through a holistic approach, the company aims to strengthen managers’ and employees’ sense of individual responsibility in order to enable long-term increases in productivity, despite future changes in the age structure of the workforce.
A variety of activities and measures were launched in 2006:
  • simulations aimed at analyzing age structures;
  • health management measures (such as the “Kraftwerk-Mobil” muscle training program);
  • ergonomic evaluations of new work systems in the planning phase and appropriate implementation of these systems according to ergonomic principles in the process installation phase.
Further objectives for the “Aging Workforce” initiative were formulated for 2007. p.63
